SEEMS LIKE A GOOD DAY TO REFLECT AND PLAN AHEAD

I'm thinkin'.....I'm thinkin' about the sacrifices...I'm thinkin' about the hard work and dollar bills I save for my getaway to Eleuthera every year.  Yes, I know it seems I just got back.  But I have to THINK...and plan...to make it happen again.  It takes me all year to save up to make it happen

Today storms are settin' in here in North Myrtle.  It's thunderin' and lightnin'....And rain is pourin' down.  We're expectin' severe weather later this afternoon.  It's also openin' day for the OD Pavilion.  What a bummer.  I'm gonna make it anyway even if I'm the only one on the dance floor.  Gonna put on my dancin' flip flops...grab an umbrella....and head down in a couple of hours.

The ol' girl ain't what she used to be but I have no doubt she can still make me feel 15 when the right music comes on.  Please let there be some dancin' men's there today.  I sure could use a good workout on that old dance floor.

Meanwhile I'm reflectin' about why I love Eleuthera so much.  My beautiful and peaceful island getaway.  10 years ago I would have told you my plan was to be living there by now.  Due to stupidity on my part I don't think that will ever happen.  Until then there's always late winter and a week or two of bliss.

It's taken a few trips to get down to the best travel partners for my annual trip.  We've finally got it right! Eleuthera is not for everybody.  Last year one of my travel mates said it was the most boring vacation she'd ever taken.  And it was quite evident that she was miserable.  SHE made US miserable!  I remembered years earlier on a trip to Harbour Island when she asked me about Eleuthera.  She said she rode around there a little bit one time and she hated it.  Why did she insist on going...and I mean INSIST last year?  Lesson learned.  She's off the list for future trips and can continue with her glamorous cruises and european travels. She belongs in Harbour Island....not me.  😊
I'll stick with Eleuthera.  My happy place.  I have burned that bridge. No...there's not much to do there...but that's what makes it great.  The locals are FABulous people.  There are over 50 beautiful beaches where most of the time we'll be the only ones on the sand.  Not another person in sight.  A couple of great restaurants but mostly small bars and grills scattered up and down the 100 mile island.  It doesn't take long to get to know some of the locals on this little island.  Different strokes for different folks.  Right?

This year there were only three of us girls on the island but we had a male friend there staying about  20 minutes away.  We were a little bit worried about our privacy with him on the island.  We're not spring chickens and are very comfortable in our bathing suits when we know there won't be anyone from home there.  We needn't have worried because we enjoyed him immensely and hauled him to our place every chance we could talk him into spending the day with us.  He was our PARTY man!

First trip I've been able to spend two weeks on the island.  It was HEAVEN.  First week just me , the girls and our man.  Second week me, one of the girls, our man, a new girl and two more gentlemen....my son and his significant other.  We had GREAT music thanks to our man...ate really well...partied a little more than I'm used to...and ate some fine Bahamian food.  And laughed...and laughed...and laughed.  The second week was a little more action packed than normal as we were showing the island to the new housemates.  We had a LARGE time.

We're gonna do it all over again.  House booked.  Travel mates set up.  Waitin' for the flight rates to go down in September.  Life is good.  I LOVE Eleuthera!  Can you tell?

OK.  So now it's time to get ready to open the ODP up.  Gonna jump in the shower and put my flip flops on...and get my umbrella ready.  Can't wait.  Looking forward to a great season on the plywood at the Pavilion.  Join me!

By the time the ODP closes down this season it'll be time to get packed for Eleuthera.  Did I say life is good?

Until we meet again I'm just gonna grab the kids and dance...Turn the music on, Miss BayBay!

THANKS FOR DROPPIN' IN.  WHILE YOU'RE HERE WON'T YOU LEAVE A COMMENT?
